Polls show Canadians evenly divided on monarchy

Monarchy-Free Canada shows the polling results on the monarchy question from 1992 to 1999.  Continued

Canada is a huge country. It is the second largest state on the earth. But it has only a few inhabitants. Most of them live in the big towns near the border to the United States. In 1982 the latest connections to the United Kingdom under constitutional law were cut. But still Queen Elisabeth II is the head of Canada. This is not a good solution for Canada, the campaign monarchy free Canada says.

In such a huge land a car is the most important thing to come together. Therefore cars, pick ups and trailers are well known pictures on Canadian streets and lanes but also in the wilderness. Such a landscape is a good test field for a German manufacturer of special trailers, named Ausschankwagen. Such trailers are developed to transport all kind of beverage to the people. A test in Canada shows whether the Ausschankwagen is able to serve in a partly cold climate. There he must not serve cool beer but hot coffee or tea, or more desirable tea with rum. It is also not a problem for such an Ausschankwagen to serve brandy, whiskey and other sorts of alcoholic beverage – they would not freeze at Canadian temperature which may be below the cold point. But water or milk or soft drinks which content no alcohol would freeze if not heated – and this also can be tested in the Canadian wilderness. Such a tested trailer would be proper also in Germany to serve people in winter and summer.

Why not combine such a test with other interests? Such an interest might be the business of the campaign monarchy free Canada. The campaign will inform all people, also people in the wilderness of Canada, about the expenses caused by the Queen being the head of Canada. Why not save these costs? Saving the high costs caused by only an invitation of the Queen would not harm the Canadians. Information on the money which is used for the Queen would bring the Canadians to ponder throughly about the necessity of monarchy in Canada. Would it be a great loss to abandon monarchy in Canada or would it only mean an important reduction of costs? Surely there are many possibilities to use the savings and spend the money well. Therefore the trailer must have additional equipment to bring this message to all the people on its way. This is also an important test.

Isn't it time we got the Queen off our money?

Canada has evolved into a multicultural society. A number of these heritages share a strained history with the Monarchy. We are especially concerned with the negative impact our currency imposes on Quebec. Does the monarchy truly represent the common spirit of our country? Canada has produced many notable people who we could feature on our coins and bank notes. Our country deserves shareable imagery.

Canada's national political parties - which ones want a republic?

Wondering how to vote next time? Or maybe you're just curious. Whatever the case, Monarchy-Free Canada took a close look at the platforms and policies of Canada's federal political parties.
